Lekan is a French-Caribbean artist and the creator of Frakapen, a powerful hybrid style blending hip-hop, crunk, American R&B, traditional Nagô warrior rhythms, and Gwo-ka percussion.
Born in France with Guadeloupean and African (Yoruba) roots, Lekan brings a strong international identity to his music. His influences range from Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Fela Kuti, and Cat Stevens to classic American hip-hop and soul.
A key turning point in his career came when he met Dany Brown, producer and artistic director of Daswing Music, who guided his artistic development and helped shape his vocal identity, rhythm, and flow—leading to the creation of Frakapen, his signature sound.
Lekan has performed on numerous stages across France, including La Flèche d’Or, the Printemps de Bourges (Off), and major cultural events.
In 2013, he signed with Daswing Productionz UK for the release of his debut album.
With sharp delivery, conscious lyrics, and an energetic presence, Lekan stands out as a bold and original voice on the international urban music scene.
